M.C.H.A. - Calcium Microcrystalline Hydroxyapatite

$39.00Price

Each 455g bag has 110.432mg elemental calcium.

ONE 455g bag of MCHA will balance 34lb

muscle/ organ mix at 10% bone.

MCHA (3248mg per Ib.)

MCHA is not water soluble. Plan to kneed into food. Store in a dark, dry place.

Microcrystalline Hydroxyapatite (M.C.H.A.), is derived from raw bone and prepared by freeze drying to preserve the protein content. The calcium thus provided is in an extremely bioavailable form.

Unlike ingesting calcium salts, MCHA does not spike the level of calcium in the blood. Instead, it produces a more prolonged calcium balance.

While MCHA delivers calcium without the spike in blood levels, it makes no sacrifices in effectiveness. In fact, multiple clinical studies have shown MCHA supplementation to be more effective than supplementation with calcium carbonate at supporting bone mineral density and reducing bone loss.

MCHA calcium is a much higher quality product than bone meal and because its not a cooked bone product its also identical to whole raw bone nutrient wise.

Most sources of calcium used in pet foods like egg shells or isolated calcium sources, like calcium carbonate, are missing, or have low ratios of, important mineral like phosphorus. This makes it hard to properly balance your dog's minerals - especially puppies and pregnant/ nursing animals.

Natural bone calcium also contains amino acids, growth factors that are missing from other sources of calcium and natural vitamin D, which is essential for regulating the calcium and phosphorus balance.

MCHA Calcium is manufactured from New Zealand certified BSE-free, pasture-fed cattle without the use of chemicals. It is a highly absorbable source of natural calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, protein, minerals, and amino acids usually found in raw bone. Calcium is essential for healthy bone formation.

Our microcrystalline hydroxyapatite calcium powder possesses a distinct advantage over other calcium preparations providing rapid absorption and ultra-low lead levels.

MCHA Dosage Recommendation for Pregnant Dogs

(based on your 455g bag with 110,432 mg elemental calcium total)

Goal: Balance a raw muscle/organ grind to approximately 10% bone equivalent during late gestation and labor support.

General Daily Dosage (Late Gestation Weeks 6–9):

•Use approximately 3,250 mg MCHA per pound of boneless food (this mimics 10% bone content).

•That’s roughly ¼ teaspoon of MCHA powder per pound of food.

This supports uterine tone, fetal skeletal development, and oxytocin-calcium signaling during labor. Adjust based on how much food the dog is consuming per day.

For Labor (Second Stage Onset or Weak Contractions):

•Offer a pinch to ⅛ teaspoon at a time mixed with a little Manuka honey and water or meat broth.

•You can let her lick it from a spoon or gently syringe-feed if needed.

•Naturally reared dogs with intact instincts often self-regulate when offered in a calm, honoring way.

Additional Notes:

•Do not give large calcium doses all at once—steady, rhythmic support is more effective.

•If feeding a mix with bone included, reduce the MCHA dose accordingly.

•Store MCHA in a cool, dry, dark place. Moisture and light can degrade mineral integrity.

  • Egg shells don't contain other minerals. This puts pets at risk for phosphorus deficiency.

MCHA contains plenty of phosphorus and the ideal calcium to phosphorus ratio of 2:1, just like real bones. MCHA is also rich in magnesium, zinc and vitamin D, as well as bone growth factors, collagen and amino acids. This lack of phosphorus means egg shells can't be used to balance foods for puppies and pregnant dogs, while MCHA contains the proper ratio of minerals and is safe for all life stages.
